New Russian Diamonds?

What other gems can be as beautiful and desired as luxurious fancy color diamonds? The question seems to be rather rhetoric. Though tastes differ, diamonds are generally appreciated by all admirers of jewelry.

Diamonds are formed in the Earth's bowels and the process takes thousands of years. If on some stage of this process metal ions get in touch with the crystal lattice of diamonds they may get colored in yellow, blue, green or even red. However, this happens very seldom and most of these precious gems remain colorless. As far as colored diamonds are concerned, here yellow gems rank first, while green and red ones are the rarest. And only one out of hundreds of colored gems can be classified as a fancy diamond. It goes without saying that natural fancy diamonds are the most expensive and stunning gems in the world.

The scientific progress has gone so far, that contemporary scientists can carry out the long and complicated process of diamond growing in a couple of days. Since a gem indistinguishable from its natural analogue can be cultured in lab conditions, adding some color to colorless real diamonds doesn’t seem to be a problem at all. Scientists of the Kazan University carried out some experiments in diamond coloring, adding the ions of iron, silver and other metals in the structure of the gems. The experiment resulted in beautiful fancy diamonds of rich yellow, cognac green, blue and other colors. We remind you, that the technology of growing diamonds alongside first chambers came from Russia in the middle of the 20th century. But now it's the time when it turns back to its motherland leaving behind many reputable diamond growing plants all over the world and in the USA including.
