Diamonds are not only a
girl's best friend but thieves' either. About half a year past since
the news about unbelievable robbery in Brussels airport shattered the
diamond trading world. But there is another many-million sensation to
shock everyone. Diamonds of a total worth 40 million euro were stolen
from the Carlton International Hotel in Cannes where they were
exhibited.
Lev Leviev is a known
Israeli billionaire and the owner of the abovementioned diamond
collection. He agreed to have his jewelry exhibited during the summer
without even the slightest suspicion his diamonds will gone on July
29. The idyll of the event was broken by the robber, a gunman working
alone who had a suitcase with his specifically prepared for precious
gems. Once it was stuffed, the man made a swift exit.
The robber should be a
professional to dare to commit such a crime. As police assume, a
robber belongs to “Pink Panther” jewel thief clan the members of
which organized a successful escape from a jail not so long ago. The
fugitives are Milan Poparic and Adrian Albrecht.
The possibility of finding
and getting jewels back is weak. Most likely they will be sold on the
black market, where moral principles are out of favor.
