Both are
inseparable. For celebrities the Oscar
Award event is probably the most important
and thrilling one, while for the viewers apart from discovering who
the oscar holder is it's a chance to see the dazzling shine of
exquisite attire and jewelry. Diamond
jewelry is just the one to underline the moment. It's no surprise
everybody's eyes
were fixed on what the stars wore and ours, too.

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas
Choosing
a present can be both challenging and tiresome since the main idea is
to please the presentee and you may not know that is the pleasing
thing really is. Speaking about Saint Valentine's Day, this is even a
more confusing task to select the right gift: not the one that is
needed but the one that is desired, that can also show your feelings
in the best way possible. You may find it sounds too radical, but
Valentine's Day is a once-a-year chance to make something special
being inspired by loving atmosphere prevailing everywhere around.

The Red Carpet has always been a grandiose event, when the whole world is thrilled with the expectations to get to know who is the best lead actor, lead actress, guest actors, director, etc. But not only that, this is always a huge party flashy with luxury gowns, eye-catchy high heels, bizarre accessories and fine jewelry. Speaking about the latter this is platinum that is again
loved by celebs today.
Hollywood's stars as if all of them were in collusion celebrated this big event wearing platinum. The choice is absolutely decent. This is the precious metal that never changes its color or fades over time. Couple it with diamonds and you will get an everlasting jewelry that can be handed down to many generations.
Platinum is a beneficial setting for diamonds of any color: while it enhance the brilliance of colorless stones it also underlines the beauty of colored ones. Now it's clear why such mega stars like Sofia Vergara, Padma Lakshmi, Christina Hendricks, Tina Fey and others were radiant with drop earrings, cuffs bracelets and rings. Male stars such as Jon Hamm and James Van Der Beek didn't yield the ladies in terms of exquisite style and dazzled platinum and diamond cufflinks.
Chopard and Bvlgari are definitely an old-school brands that stood the test of time and rivalry, but these were Neil Lane, Lorraine Schwartz and Fred Leighton who ruled the Red Carpet. The most exotic jewelry (Neil Lane) were worn by Padma Lakshmi who chose platinum pendant earrings from the 1920's with coral, onix and diamonds, and platinum coctail ring from the same period featuring diamond and onix. Starling Sophia Vergara opted for the largest pieces offered by Neil Lane, this is a set of platinum and diamond earrings (45 carats), cuff bracelets (110 carats) and a ring with two center diamonds (20 carats).

Diamonds on the Court

We used to see celebrities like film stars, singers or top models wearing diamonds on the Red Carpet or any other events, but now diamonds hit the tennis court.
Maria Sharapova, a former top ranked tennis player, will be promoting Tiffany diamonds during all the four events: Australian Open, U.S. Open, French Open and Wimbledon. 2011 French Open is scheduled for tomorrow, May 17, and will last till June 5. So, if you are the fan of Maria Sharapova and also like diamonds, there will be a double reason for you to watch tennis meets this season.
As for the diamonds, Sharapova gave preference to drop diamond earrings. The latter feature diamonds of the rose cut, one of the oldest types of cuts. There is no pavilion in a basic rose cut and the crown is composed of triangular facets that resemble the petals of a rose. To the boot of all that diamonds are set in platinum to emphasize on the beauty of the design.
When asked why Sharapova had chosen this very design, she said it gives the earrings unique glitter so that they shine with every faction. Apart from than, the earrings are lightweight, what is a meaningful reason to wear them on court. But you are wrong if you think a former world No.1 will be wearing only these very earrings, she has chosen a group of them! And these one will be worn only on French Open in Paris. So, to see the whole collection you should follow the schedule of the grand slam events.

Treasures from the Past: Diamonds from Golconda Mines at the Christie's Sale

Legendary Golconda mines of south India were known for their diamonds of unique Type II clarity, that make only a tiny part of all mined diamonds, approximately 2%. Golconda diamonds differ from diamonds found elsewhere, either in Russia, Australia, or Brazil and Africa. They possess unique degree of transparency seen in such world-known diamonds found there as Wittelsbach diamond, Regent diamond, Hope diamond, Koh-i-Noor and Darya-e-nur.
The Golconda city was found in 13th century, it developed and flourished for over two centuries and was known for its diamond mines. It was a real diamond trade center that couldn't help but draw attention of the British dealers. Even nowadays Golconda diamonds are highly prized and referred to imperial diamonds.
So, this is a pair of ear pendants that are announced to be sold at the Christie's Hong Kong Magnificent Jewel Sale on May 31. These are so called the Imperial Cushions, a pair of 23.49ct and 23.11ct potentially flawless D color diamonds, that are estimated between HK$55 million and $78 million, that is between US $7 million and $10 million. The Imperial Cushions are of exceptional calible each, they match in size, shape and cut even though they are of different weight. Though all the parameters like quality, rarity and workmanship apart from aforementioned characteristics speak for the royal origin, the jewel comes without imperial certification. Well, it's a real marvel and rarity such a jewelry is seen at auction.

Wearing Diamond Studs

Stud earrings are designed just to fit over the hole in a pierced ear. They can be cute and elegant, it is assumed that every woman should have at least one pair of studs in her jewelry box. Stud earrings can be of different form, color and made of any material from plastic to diamonds. As you can guess from the name of this blog, we are going to concentrate on diamond studs today.
Diamond studs are solitary stone earrings, so the whole attention of the viewers are riveted to the stone. Then choose a diamond stone wisely. Pay attention to color, shape and size.
Color. Usually diamonds are divided into two color types: fancy colored and colorless. Fancy colored diamonds are cognac, green, red, pink, blue and their hues. Colorless diamond studs are the most popular. The thing is that they match nearly all types of clothes you may wear like formal or semi-formal, one-colored or multicolored. White diamond studs are most traditional ones and they are a must for every woman. But if you have an opportunity to buy another pair of diamond studs it is better to purchase fancy colored diamond earrings like red or blue. The thing is that diamond studs are rather expensive, that is why more and more women prefer lab-grown diamonds for this case. They are a bit cheaper and give a chance to save for an extra pair of studs.
Shape or cut. Round cut is the most popular shape for diamond stud earrings. However stud earrings can be of various shapes like pear, princess, oval, emerald or of any other diamond cut. The choice of a shape depends on the taste of a woman: someone likes princess cut diamond studs while other prefers round studs.
Size. Diamond size is measured in carats. There is a tendency to think that the larger the stone is the prettier it is. Wrong statement. No doubt that a larger diamond gem will emphasize your financial status, however it can look too arrogant and garish is some cases. For example, large diamond studs are just perfect for special events like receptions or balls. Nowadays many brides choose to wear diamond studs on their wedding event because of earrings' pleasant yet unobtrusive sparkle. On the other hand, if you wear large diamond studs with semi-formal outfits they will just look off base. For such events it is better to have small diamond buds.
Recommendation for wearing diamond studs: when wearing your diamond studs pin your hair up or back, put on a strapless dress that bares your neck and shoulders, then nothing will distract attention from your diamond earrings.
A diamond stud consists of a gemstone, tack and backing. Somebody can have problems with a backing, as it is a tiny thing that tends to be lost. In this case it is better to store your studs in an earring holder. It is recommended to have a holder with more holes than you really need. Always put the backing on an earring. If you don't have an earring holder and hold your earrings in a box, still put a backing in order not to lose it. When dropped it is easier to find an earring with a backing on it than a backing itself.
Diamond studs is an elegant type of jewelry easy to match to your clothes style and other pieces of jewelry. Though rather simple they may add bright and dazzling accents to any ensemble.
