Raphaele Canot Diamond Jewelry Debut in the U.S.

Diamond gems are normally associated with solidity and sophistication. But as it turned out, much depends on jewelry design. Raphaele Canot opted for playful whimsical designs for her diamonds gems, unexpected color solutions and unusual combinations to show that diamond jewelery can be a fun!

Have you ever seen diamonds alongside enamel decoration of eye-popping colors? This is the mixture you won't find every day, but it looks flattering. It seems Ms. Canot could turn a classic diamond stone into a casual fling.

Rahpaele Canot wanted to make a fresh approach and created an alternative to classic jewelry. You can see whether she succeeded on not from her Art-Deco-inspired bracelets and ring collection. There's a funny 'OMG' ring, that is actually a tribute to one of the most popular American exclamations 'Oh My God!'. It is made in a shape of lips, where a wearer has to insert a finger through an opened mouth to put it on. The upper lip is decorated with diamonds, while the whole idea of a lip motif is caught when one moves the finger. A smiling ring, a funny jewelry!

Boots: Most Quaint Setting for Diamonds

It's easy to imagine diamonds to be worn on a neck, finger, wrist, hair, even on teeth but it's unusual to see them on footwear. Well, 'road test' is not what diamonds, the most expensive gems, deserve. However, these ankle boots were not made for an everyday wear but were used as an odd setting for expensive gems. If assessed in terms of beauty – they are 100% dazzling and brilliant! And the most expensive by the way.

The boots were designed by the designers An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx from Antwerp and made by diamond dealer Diarough. They were working on them to be in time for the Business of Design Week held in Hong Kong in December 2013. Now they can be found in the office of Diarough, so several jewelers from New Zealand and Australia had got an opportunity to try on them as a part of their trip to Antwerp.

Diamond Grillz — Freak, Fashion Whim or a Means to Improve Oral Health

Once there was RyanLochte, the Olympic gold-winner in swimming, this time Katy Perry was spotted wearing precious grillz. The tendency is gaining momentum. But is it just a freaky thing of celebrity or do they know the real value of diamond encrusted grillz?

The idea of using diamond-encrusted teeth has serious medical grounds. Scientists have discovered that diamonds of small spherical shape can increase the durability of dental implants and promote bone growth. They can also fight diseases and improve oral health.

Paris Hilton at 'Foam & Diamonds' Party

We've come across lots of diamond inspired things: tattoo and lingerie, grills and flash drive. This time this is a mega cool party named after diamonds: 'Foam & Diamonds' event at Amnesia Ibiza club. Luxury as diamonds are, the party should correspond with the name. Brilliant event it's supposed to be!

Paris Hilton is a famous socialite but this time instead of spending time idly she is going to work there as a resident DJ. Surprise! The initial goal is to launch a pop-up store where a star is to sell her line of accessories and handbags. The even will star on July 31 and be open till August 31, but Paris Hilton will perform there every Wednesday till August 21. It sounds like a nice chance to meet a huge star face to face. Moreover, on August 7 she is going to meet her fans personally and offer her accessories at the club. Who knows may be there will be diamonds there not only in the name of the event.

De Beers Phenomena: What Is It?

While the name De Beers is known if not to every fiancee looking for a diamond engagement ring for his loved one, then to diamond experts for sure, but the phrase 'De Beers Phenomena' may sound surprisingly new. So what is this phenomena?

De Beers Phenomena is the new High Jewelry Collection that was unveiled during Paris Couture Week. The even was not randomly chosen. High fashion is a similar art as fine jewelry and both managed to complement each other during the event.

The name 'Phenomena' is not a random choice as well. The idea of the collection is to convey the beauty, power and grace of natural phenomena created by water. The collection consists of twenty pieces across five sets: Glacier, Frost, Stream, Reef and Crest. These phenomena are expressed through medium of magnificent diamonds, each excuisite in its natural beauty, intensified by magnificent designs. Each piece of the collection was carefull crafted in order to not injure the innate allure and grace of a gem. This are pieces of art that are worth contemplating!

This is De Beers Phenomena Frost Diamond Necklace on the picture.

Show Off Your Pride For Your Country

The 4th of July is a great holiday for the whole American nation. This is the day when every citizen can retrospect to a period of country formation, to see how huge the changes are and to thank God for the time we are living in now.

Each holiday is a good reminder of the events in the past but in order to make it more visual there should be kind of symbols. As for the Independence Day there are more than enough attributes of the holiday: stars and stripes seen everywhere from meals to T-shirts, unforgettable firework show, traditional movies watched on this day and an eagle symbol. Let's pay attention to the last from the row.

The Great Gatsby Movie is Bringing Forth Mania for the 1920s Styles

Every person has at least one object of infatuation, from kids to adults, and with age they are getting pricier. For example, on watching the Toy Story cartoon the counters of toy stores seemed to break under the weight of a great number of accessories from Woody's hat to Buzz Lightyear spaceships. You could hardly resist your kids whining begging you to buy one. A familiar situation? It's the same situation with adults yet with one difference: their accessories are much more expensive. So now after The Great Gatsby hit the cinemas the counters will dazzle with incredible jewelry.

GemFest — the Fest of Diamond Gems in Tokyo

This is GIA that held the even in Japan, the country that got a chance to have a closer look onto the world of colored diamonds. This is the second GemFest in the “Land of the Rising Sun”, following the opening of the GIA laboratory in Tokyo in December, 2012.

According to John King, the chief quality officer of GIA, Japan is now the world's leading consumer market for colored diamonds. It wasn't until mid 90th that colored diamonds became the object of interest of not only royal and rich people but of usual customers either. King focused on most rare colors that ever emerged in GIA lab, they are green, blue, blue-green, pinkish orange and purple. However, there is now a high demand for pale colors which are graded as F, G, H and I (D to Z scale). He also stressed on treated diamonds, synthetics gems and HPHT treated colors.

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

Choosing a present can be both challenging and tiresome since the main idea is to please the presentee and you may not know that is the pleasing thing really is. Speaking about Saint Valentine's Day, this is even a more confusing task to select the right gift: not the one that is needed but the one that is desired, that can also show your feelings in the best way possible. You may find it sounds too radical, but Valentine's Day is a once-a-year chance to make something special being inspired by loving atmosphere prevailing everywhere around.

$5 million Birthday Present for a Precious Husband

It's hard to say the value of a present that is to symbolize true fillings of a gift buyer, but Beyonce seemed to set the price - $5 million. This is really a very generous present she gave to her literally brilliant husband Jay-Z, one of the most talented rappers in the world.

This diamond-encrusted watch called 'Big Bang' is not simply a strikingly expensive thing (it indeed is!) but also a single copy of the most pricey wristwatch ever made by Hublot. It is covered with 1,282 diamonds of colorless diamonds of various shape to suit the design. Let us remind that on December 4 Jay-Z celebrated his 43rd birthday. Not only a rapper he is but a notable entertainer, recognizable starlet and now a perfect eye-catcher due to his new watch.

Well, at least diamond-encrusted watch is not that extravagant thing like grills, flash drive or lingerie.

An Idea for Thanksgiving Presents

'To stuff a turkey or not to stuff' is not the only dilemma on Thanksgiving Day. This is the best day for making thanks, but while you can give thanks to God in prayers mostly, this holiday can be a nice occasion to show your love and gratitude to your nearest ones in more materialistic way by giving presents. And again diamond jewelry can stand you in good stead.

This year the holiday is celebrated on November 22nd, so you have little time left for deciding on Thanksgiving Day menu and presents. Among a wide choice of presents jewellery has its niche, too. As it's estimated, jewelry sales increase on about 16% during Thanksgiving weekend. Depending on customers' financial situation they can opt for cheaper items or more expensive ones – diamonds.

The choice of a jewel depends on customer's taste of course but it is claimed that religious jewelry, such as crosses, is more popular during these days. On the one hand, they may signify your gracious attitude to the person, but on the other may give a kind of protection from evil forces. While the last may be doubtful, the thing that is sure is that diamonds will be an excellent present for any occasion. Wearproof, longlasting, amazingly beautiful and sparkling they can make any lady happy just instantly. And while your mom or wife will be fussing over the Thanksgiving meal, you can come up to her from behind and put a chain with diamond pendant on to her neck. An unforgettable evening this will be! Wish you a happy Thanksgiving!

No Tricking, Only Treating on Halloween This Year!

Another Halloween is just around the corner full of sweets and orange with pumpkins. This is an unusual holiday with festive atmosphere, frightful costumes where some aim to scare while other to amuse, and of course 'trick or treat' game. Well, you can also get advantage of the game, too, which seems to always bring desired result only during this day – trick your loved one and make him treat you with an orange diamond to fit the occasion.

Diamonds of exotic colors are getting popular nowadays, especially with the color to correspond the occasion it is presented for. For example, blue diamond jewelry is a great option to mark such event as birth of a son, you can give it to your wife and she will never forget this occasion. Or red diamond ring that symbolize lust and passion can be a perfect present for wedding anniversary. So not hard to guess whey orange diamond would be a lovely present to Halloween.

Diamonds are long-lasting if not ever-lasting gems, so it means you will wear them not simply once a year when celebrating the day of All Saints, but for any occasion to complement your look. But as far as this is a holiday associated with pumpkin, yellow and orange diamonds are a perfect choice. However, these are not the gems of a low cost. Colored diamonds are rare and more expensive with yellow and orange included, but there is always a way out for budget-minded customers: lab created diamonds.

Whatever the diamonds is it can always melt your loved one's heart. Created diamonds are supposed to be minimum 20% less expensive than natural stones, but with fancy colored gems the price may differ greatly. So, if you decided to present your honey with a gem but is hesitating about its affordability, take a look at lab grown gems. You can either opt for an already made jewelry or buy loose gems in order to implement your wildest fantasies in life and then encrust it with diamonds. Pumpkin pendant is a nice gift idea and the thing you won't see every day, so why not to pamper a person you love with an exquisite present without exceeding the limits of your budget?

Diamond ... Planet?

There is nothing to stop people from looking for new sources of minerals. In terms of diamonds, people managed to meticulously imitate the processes that happen under the Earth mantle and recreate diamonds in laboratory conditions. So now alongside natural diamonds there are also synthetic ones, but either demand for diamonds has increased while supply remained unchanged or there is another reason we don't know, but scientists seem to see diamonds in any thing they can, even inside the planet!

The planet 55 Cancri e is the first 'diamond' planet even discovered to orbit a sun-like planet in our Milky Way galaxy. The planet is not so far away actually, it's only 40-lightyears away from the Earth, in Cancer constellation. It's twice larger than our planet and eight times heavier. 55 Cancri e consists of a molten iron core surrounded by a layer of silicon-based minerals, next goes pure diamond layer while the surface is covered by graphite. According to calculations, at least the third part of the planet is made of diamond.

This planet is absolutely unique discovery of a rich resource of diamond and it is still awaiting for people to start exploring the nearby planets. Undoubtedly, it won't happen too soon, so now what we have is natural and synthetic diamonds here on the Earth, where diamonds still remain a great investment option.
What do you think about 'diamond planet'? Do you think people will ever explore it?

Smile With Diamonds

There is a good old technique a man uses to show he is interested in a woman: wink of an eye. In some cases it works of course, but it can't be called a 100% win-win method what most of men expect it to be. Now if an Indian man wants to win a girl over, he gives her a glimpse of his diamond... teeth.

India is one of the largest exporters of diamonds in the world and diamond gems are in favor there. Even though the greater part of the population is poor, there is nothing to prevent rich ones from buying diamonds or from capping them in teeth (don't mix it with diamond grills) . According to Dr Vivek Saggar, dental jewelry is very popular among youth now and being an orthodontist he has a range of patients who inquire about dental jewelry procedures. Actually, this trend for 'diamonds in teeth' started seven or eight years ago but at that time it could be only one person per month who was interested in capping a gem in his/her tooth. Now the number of them is growing very fast with about 10% increase almost every year.

Who are they?
These are mostly young ladies in their twenties and thirties who do want to shine a diamond glimpse. Guys want to be the eye-catchers as well, but the ration of males vs females is 3 to 7, with girls wining!

Where do they put diamonds?
As far as this is the gem to be shown off, it should be in plain sight so the choice of a tooth is evident: this is either an upper canine or lateral incisor.

What gems do they opt for?
They are diamonds but in fact synthetic ones! Similar to natural diamonds they possess that brilliance needed to jazz up any smile. The choice of a color depends on the personal preferences. White diamonds are more popular compared to colored but some fashion-mongers prefer green, pink and red gems. These are mostly round cut diamonds, but star-shaped also seem trendy.
To sum up, if you want to add some zest to your smile choose a diamond as a win-win option.

Butterfly Meadow

“I have wings but I'm not a bird. I'm small and colorful” the kid riddle says, and we would add “

When made of precious gems I'm very enticing for collectors regardless my high price tag”. Yes, this is a butterfly but as you can guess not a usual one and not even a single one!

There is an exhibition of a large collection of butterfly brooches on display in the Gem and Mineral Hall at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. Precious 'species' will remain there till April 2013 so it makes easy to plan your visit in the museum once you are in LA. What you will see there is 16 butterflies made from 18K gold and covered with colored gemstones ranging from opal to diamonds.

Unique brooches were created by Buzz and Bernadine. Don't be surprised if these names are unknown to you, because a talented gem cutter and a skillful jewelry designer decided not to uncover their full names. Instead they tried to draw maximum attention to their cherished creations rather than personalities.

Each butterfly 'wears' unique gems sparingly collected by the owners through more than thirty years and is named after the gems it is covered with. There is the Opal Butterfly featuring the opals from Virgin Valley, Nevada; there is the Benitoite Butterfly beautified with 34.67 carats of amazing blue gemstones which are known as the California state gem. However, as far as we are more interested in diamonds than in any other gems that is why the exhibit that caught our attention is the Hiddenite Butterfly. The body is made of green oval-shaped hiddenite that is known as the largest ever faceted and covered with lots of colorless diamonds. With red beryl eyes and tourmaline elements this brooch would be a perfect accessory for any lady of fashion for any occasion. But it won't as far as Buzz & Bernadine made it rather for contemplating than for wearing. So let's simply enjoy this beauty.

Luxurious Lingerie

Women are always hunting for beautiful outfits like chiffon flowy scarfs, flashy handbags, python skin purses, bright belts if not to mention trendy clothing. But all these are visible things the surroundings can admire yet there is one hidden from the eyes but манящий, so that some ladies are ready to drop big bucks on it – lingerie.

This lingerie is a special one: this is a diamond and gold bra. Made from 18K gold and encrusted with about 500 little diamonds, it will cost $1 million to a faithful fashonista. This brilliant beauty is offered on sale at Birmingham Estate & Jewelry Buyers shop. It even has a name – Rita given after Anthony Aubry's, the shop owner, wife.

Believe it or not, but making a bra takes pretty much time and skills especially when it's diamond. A whole team of jewelers worked to make brasseries from gold and then to thickly cover it with diamonds.

Rita bra is actually not the first one to cost $1million. Before Victoria's Secret offered its 'Fantasy' bra, but there is the difference between them. While Fantasy is made of fabric, Rita is molded from gold and it's pretty weighty – 750 gm of gold only. It sounds like this is a huge gold bar and a great opportunity for investments.

Diamond Encrusted Flash Drive: Let Your Stored Data Get More Flash

There is always a problem with flash drives: you can easily lose either its cap or the flash itself. The best way to keep it with you is to wear it around your neck like a pendant. But it usually is not that pretty to wear it that way, unless of course it's a Magic Mushroom USB key encrusted with precious stones.

We've already wrote a lot about various gadgets, accessories and even body adorned with diamonds, now it's time for a flash drive. A Magic Mushroom flash is a unique thing. Yes, it's look like a very pretty mushroom covered with any gem to your liking. If it's made in white gold and is beautified with diamonds and emeralds, it will cost around $37,000. A cheaper version of the above-mentioned Mushroom can be made in pink gold with white diamonds and pink sapphires, in this case it won't cost more than $16,500. But if yellow gold is what you love most of all, be ready to pay $24,400 for a flash drive sparkling with white diamonds and rubies.

While the flash drive body is decorated with tiny gems, the total amount of carat weight can be impressive. Of course, it depends on the gemstones you choose for it: if they are diamonds and emeralds then it will weight 9.18 carat in total, while the rest variations with rubies or with sapphires will provide 11.34 carats in total.

Those who are interested more in storage capacity than in carat weight will be interested more in flash drive memory. So the memory capacity is 32 GB. With a Magic Mushroom you will kill two birds with one stone: get a pretty diamond jewelry which you can wear like a pendant, and have a very handy data storage device.
